Robert E. Hopkins, 80, of Bradford, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Bradford Manor.
He was born on November 17, 1935 in Olean, NY, a son of the late LaVern and Imogene Steiner Hopkins.
He was a graduate of the Olean High School.
On November 9, 1963 in Smethport, he married Peggy L. Truesdale, who survives.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a former member of the Bradford Lion’s Club. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing, hunting, boating and camping.
He was employed in Bradford as an assistant manager for the former Loblaws, Bells and Jubilee grocery stores from 1952-1995. He also worked as a police officer for Foster Township from 1975 until his retirement in 2006.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Peggy Hopkins of Bradford he is also survived by two sons, John “Jack” (Ruth) Kline of Bradford and Bob (Brian Corbett) Hopkins of Bradford; three sisters, Patty Parker of Florida, Betty Topor of Olean and Sandra Hopkins of Olean; four grandchildren, Jason (Elaine Geer) Kline, Tiffany (Jason Hance) Kline, Crystal Blaske and Steve Blaske; three great grandchildren, Bentley Blaske, Jessa Kline and Aralyn Hance; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Alan Kline, one daughter, Cheryl Blaske, one sister, Verna Cappelletti and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church officiating.
Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
