The Pitt-Bradford men’s basketball team announced its 2016-17 schedule, highlighted by 12 home games and an appearance in the Geneva College Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Tournament.
Pitt-Bradford opens regular-season action Tuesday, Nov. 15 at home against Buffalo State. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2011-12. The Bengals lead the all-time series 4-2.
The Panthers will compete in the Geneva College (Pa.) Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 18 and 19, opening with Otterbein (Ohio). The winner will meet the winner of John Jay (N.Y.) and Geneva the following day for the championship.
Pitt-Bradford returns home to host Penn State Dubois Thanksgiving week, and the final day of November signals the start of conference play with a road trip to Hilbert. The Hawks won the league’s regular season championship last year, defeating the Panthers twice during season and again in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Road trips to La Roche and Mt. Aloysius in early December sandwich a home contest versus Franciscan. The men welcome Juniata to the KOA Arena Monday, Dec. 19 to conclude the first half of their schedule, and resume play New Year’s Eve at Houghton.
Conference plays ramps back up the first weekend of January with three straight home games, including a Saturday matinee with rival Penn State Behrend. Pitt-Bradford will then play five of its next seven games on the road, including contests at Pitt-Greensburg, the defending AMCC champions, and non-conference opponent Alfred State.
The Panthers host Mt. Aloysius and Medaille in early February before traveling to Behrend and Penn State Altoona. Pitt-Bradford closes out the regular season Saturday, Feb. 18 at home against Pitt-Greensburg.
The men return two starters from a squad that finished fifth in the AMCC one year ago under fifth-year head coach Britt Moore, including Evan Greening, who ranked third in the country with 18 double-doubles.
The Panthers open practice Saturday, Oct. 15 and will officially kick off their season hosting Midnight Madness Thursday, Oct. 27.
