The New York Yankees routed the Chicago White Sox 7-1 last night in Chicago.
Aaron Judge and Kyle Higashioka homered, and Clarke Schmidt combined with two relievers for 13 strikeouts, helping the still-contending Yankees to come away with the win after losing 3 of 4.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a 2-run double and scored during New York’s 4-run fourth. They scored 3 more in the eighth when Higashioka hit his first career pinch-hit homer and Judge added his 21st homerun of the season.
Schmidt gave up 1 run and 4 hits over 5 1/3 innings. The right-hander struck out 7 and walked 1. Michael King tossed 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5 without a walk. Jonathan Loáisiga worked the ninth after being sidelined since April 5 because of a bone spur in his elbow.
The Yankees are now 59-55 on the season and will face the White Sox again tonight.
