The Chicago Cubs throttled the Pittssburgh Pirates Monday night 12-2. With the win the Cubs reached 100 wins in a season for the first time in 81 years. Major league ERA leader Kyle Hendericks pitched six scoreless innings for Chicago.
Rookie Chad Kuhl was rocked for five runs and eight hits in three-plus innings. Matt Joyce and pinch-hitter David Freese hit back-to-back home runs for the Bucs. And, Andrew McCutchen extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
