The Bradford Dance Center will be putting on a special dance performance tonight to benefit Aleksa Carey. Aleksa is a student at the Bradford Dance Center who is fighting a rare form of cancer known as Neuroblastoma. She has been undergoing treatment since she was diagnosed around Thanksgiving of last year. The benefit performance called “Aleksa’s Army- Student Showcase” will take place at the St. Benard’s School on West Washington St. tonight at 7pm. Thirteen dance performances choreographed by each dancer will be performed inside the St. Benard’s Gymnasium. Mauri Shembeda is the owner/director of the Bradford Dance Center. She told us Aleksa is doing better but is unsure if she will be attending the performance tonight.
A ten dollar donation will be taken at the door. The Bradford Dance Center will also be holding a bake food sale at tonight’s dance performance. All proceeds from the dance performance and the bake food sale will go for Aleksa’s treatment and to help the Carey family with expenses.
