A questionable call by Aaron Boone and an unquestionable performance by Mike Trout spelled doom for the Yankees yesterday, with the Angels rolling over New York 11-4.
With the Yankees up 4-3 in the top of the fourth, Boone had Starling Gray pitch to Trout instead of intentionally walking him, and Trout proceeded to slug home a 419 foot two-run homer to put the Angels in front. And things spiraled downward from there.
The two teams meet again in the Bronx this afternoon.
