FROM THE OFFICE OF STEPHANIE L. VETTENBURG-SHAFFER
MCKEAN COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Re: Community Report for Drugs Collected last quarter of 2019
To assist people in discarding unused medication, medication drop boxes were installed throughout the county in 2016. The boxes were sponsored by the PA District Attorney’s Association and PA American Water Company.
The medication is collected and weighed by the McKean County Detectives and properly disposed of by the National Guard.
In McKean County, drug boxes are located at the Bradford City Police Station; Bradford Township Police Department; Kane Borough Police Station; Sheriff’s Department (location inside the McKean County Jail); and State Police Barracks.
The last quarter of 2019 saw 246.6 lbs. of medication collected and properly disposed.
The boxes are available to anyone who has medication to discard.
The goal is to keep unused medication out of the hands of anyone other than to whom it was prescribed in an attempt to reduce drug dependency.
If you suspect illegal drug activity, please report it by calling the McKean County Drug Task Force at the District Attorney’s Office (814)887-3312 or by email to MCDTFtip@gmail.com
