A Bradford man is in jail following an alleged threat of a shooting spree.
Bradford City Police received a call on Tuesday around 9 pm to the High Rise Apartment building. The security guard at the High Rise advised officers that 21 year old Ernest L. Lathrop Jr., had possibly made threats to residents of the building should his father be convicted. According to the written statement filed by the guard, Lathrop Jr. said he was going to go on a shooting spree if his father were to get convicted, that he is the head of a gang, and could easily have the building surrounded.
Lathrop Jr. is the son of Ernest Lathrop Sr., the man who was indicted earlier this month for allegedly impersonating a U.S. Marshall at an accident scene and is currently facing federal charges. Lathrop Jr. was arraigned and is in the McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 5th. Lathrop Sr., is free on $10,000 unsecured bail after a video conference where he entered a plea of not guilty.
This guy obviously has some troubles separating reality with fantasy. Reality: it’s 2021 bud, you can’t go around threatening to shoot up the town, your apartment building and probably not even your own belongings let alone your neighbors .
Hang him. Be done.
