The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Cincinnati Reds 7-2 at PNC Park last night on WESB Sports.
Two days after making his debut, Troy Stokes Jr. hit an RBI single in the fourth inning. The right fielder also doubled in a run in the eighth.
JT Brubaker pitched six strong innings, allowing one run on five hits to win for the first time in four starts. He had four strikeouts and one walk while lowering his ERA to 2.58.
Kevin Newman had an RBI triple in the 4th, Philip Evans added an RBI double in the 5th, and Adam Frazier had 2 hits including a two-run homer in the eighth off Sean Doolittle, his first of the season. Frazier has a 12-game hitting streak, matching a career best.
The Pirates had lost eight straight games to the Reds, including all four this season by a combined score of 44-9. Pittsburgh has won three of its past 12 overall. They are now 15-20 on the season and will face the Reds again today at PNC Park for the third and final game of the series at 12:35.
