Today is International Overdose Awareness day, the world’s largest campaign to end overdose, remember those that died, and raise awareness about preventing overdoses.
In Harrisburg, State Senator John Kane said that the Pandemic had accelerated the number of overdoses.
“Over 5000 Pennsylvanians have died from the opioid epidemic last year. And because of the pandemic, a 30% higher rate of overdoses last year alone.”
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services will be distributing Narcan at their Bradford, St. Marys, and Emporium Offices until 3:00 today, and on the Ridgway Courthouse lawn this evening.
