The New York Yankees clobbered the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 last night in Baltimore.
Aaron Judge started a five-homer barrage that backed Gerrit Cole, as New York won consecutive games for the first time since the 1st and 3rd of this month. Giancarlo Stanton, Luke Voit, Joey Gallo and DJ LeMahieu also went deep for New York, which tied its season high for home runs.
Cole allowed one run and four hits in five innings with seven strikeouts and three walks. He threw 108 pitches.
New York won for the third time in 11 games and tied Toronto for the AL-wild card lead with 17 games left. Boston is percentage points back after beating Seattle 8-4.
The Yankees are now 81-64 on the season and will face the Orioles again tonight in game 2 of the 3-game series.
