The Buffalo Sabres rallied over the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 last night at KeyBank Center.
The Sabres’ alternate captains, Kyle Okposo and Zemgus Girgensons, scored in the first and second quarter respectively to tie the game 2-2 heading into the third. Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson scored 23 seconds apart to start the final period, and Rasmus Asplund capped the scoring to keep Buffalo’s unbeaten season start alive. Craig Anderson made 32 saves on 34 shots.
After finishing in last place for the fourth time in eight seasons, the Sabres are 3-0 for the first time since 2008 and the fifth time in franchise history. They will next host former goaltender Linus Ullmark and the Boston Bruins on Friday.
