The United Way of the Bradford Area is hosting their Red Feather and Report to the Community Event on May 26th, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the Bradford Club with music by Jim Ronan.
The Red Feather recognition is to honor a volunteer in our community who is truly passionate about the United Way and the work we do year after year. We also take time to award a funded agency who shares our mission within their own organization with the Excellence in Representation as well as a Small Business Award to a local business who exemplifies the meaning of volunteerism and community within their professional endeavors.
This year, the Red Feather Award will be presented to Stacy Shotts Williams. Stacy is the Bradford Regional Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director and has been employed in various positions at BRMC for 31 years: she is passionate about the work she does within the community and the individuals she helps to serve, both personally and professionally. Stacy has been actively involved with the United Way of the Bradford Area. Inc. as a volunteer and Board Member for over eight years, having served as a Member, Treasurer and Secretary. Williams lives by a give back attitude, instilled in her by her parents and grandparents, and believes in the importance of paying it forward, especially in a community she has called home since a child.
Receiving the Excellence in Representation award is The Friendship Table. The Friendship Table is entering its 25th year serving the Bradford community and with thanks to the generous support of the community and other local organizations, they have been able to serve in excess of 110,000 meals since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. As stated by the Friendship Table, “Giving back to Bradford is important to us because we all feel it is our duty to give back to the community in which we live.”
In its second year to be presented at the award ceremony is the Small Business Award. The UWBA Board of Directors are pleased to honor Marshall Insurance Services for their longstanding relationship with the UWBA through both Campaign support and volunteer involvement of owner, Mick Marshall. Mick opened the Bradford office in 2000 after working remotely from their original office in NY State, beginning in 1996. They recently moved their Bradford office to 34 Foster Brook Plaza and currently have 4 offices including the Bradford office, St. Marys, Cuba NY and Belfast NY. Mick goes on to say “I think it’s important to give back to our community for many reasons. This community has been so supportive to me personally and to my business. I believe we all have the responsibility to give back to our communities and to set that example for others. I am one of many around here who are committed to improving the lives of those less fortunate. My father was also from this area and I saw how he dedicated so much of his life to helping others, and I just always knew it was part of who I was and how I was raised. There is something special about the people in Western PA and Western NY. Our community pulls together like no other community I’ve ever witnessed.”
