A ceremony was held Saturday morning to dedicate the newly constructed Elm Street bridge to James Keith Oxley.
Oxley grew up in the 5th Ward and gave his life for his country, at the age of 21, in the battle of Quang Tri Province.
According to the Historic Downtown Bradford Facebook page, speakers during the ceremony included Ken DuBois, who organized the memorialization of the bridge and members of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 212 and the American Legion Post 108. Mayor James McDonald read the official proclamation dedicating the bridge.
Signs at both ends were unveiled for the “U.S. Navy Hospitalman James Keith Oxley Memorial Bridge.”
