Justice Debra Todd has been sworn-in as Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Justice Todd was officially sworn-in as PA’s 58th Chief Justice yesterday, having served on the court since November of 2007. Todd graduated from Chatham College in Pittsburgh and studied at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She began her career in Pittsburgh before serving as a Judge on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania from 2000 through 2007.
Justice Todd is the first female to be installed as Chief Justice in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s 300-year history, stating “I realize I’m the first female chief justice, but I know I won’t be the last.”
