UPDATED 1:45 PM 7/10 with new information.
Escaped prisoner Michael Burham remains at large, and officials believe he may still be in the Warren area.
Authorities believe that Burnham was the person who broke into a home 16 miles north of Warren County Jail, stole men’s clothing, and killed a dog in the residence. They also reported discovering small stockpiles and campsites around the area that appear to be connected to Burham. A police standoff on Friday appears to have been an unfounded tip.
Burham escaped from Warren County Jail around 11:20 on Thursday evening while he was receiving his state required yard time. Authorities believe that he used a piece of exercise equipment and bed sheets to scale the wall, climb over, and down.
Authorities noticed his absence immediately and started a door to door search with canines and a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter. The search was expanded to the Allegheny National Forest, which is also being searched via drones.
It’s believed that he may be receiving assistance from at least one person, based on past behavior. Residents in the area are being asked to turn over doorbell camera footage to help in tracking Burham.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement are all searching on foot as well. Pennsylvania State Police are in command of the manhunt at this time.
Burham is currently facing charges for the May 11th homicide of Kayla Hodgkin or Jamestown, and is also wanted for arson in a vehicle fire and rape.
Burham was in Warren County to face charges of kidnapping an elderly Sheffield couple while fleeing police and leaving them in South Carolina, where, he was finally arrested after two weeks on the run. Currently,
US Marshals are offering a $7500 reward and Warren County Crime Stoppers a $2000 reward for information leading to Burms arrest.
While there is no evidence at this time that Burham may be in or headed to McKean County. residents are advised to be vigilant, lock doors and windows, call 911 if they see or think they see Burham. He is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach.
