The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the long-awaited arrival of the 2024 Holiday Ornament: Hi-Ho Drive In.
Every year, the GOACC has an ornament created celebrating an Olean landmark. The business selections are voted on by the public and a committee, this year’s ending incredibly close. Hi-Ho is the 30th in this series, created by artist Kathleen McDonald.
For decades, Hi-Ho has been an integral part of the Olean community. Built in 1953, the business had a number of successful owners, including esteemed local businessman, Louis Magnano. In 2014, the Austin family assumed ownership. Peggy and Kirk Austin almost immediately started the aesthetic redesign, taking the community back to the classic 50’s style drive-in.
This past year, Hi-Ho celebrated its 70th anniversary, and 11th season under the Austin’s.
“Kirk and I are so honored, grateful, and humbled to be chosen by our amazing community,” says owner Peggy Austin. “Hi-Ho Drive In has been a staple in the community since 1953, and we are honored to carry on the legacy today!”
At the GOACC, we are honored to continue their legacy as well. Ornaments can be purchased online at https://Shop.OleanNY.com or in the GOACC Gift Shop, at 301 N Union St, in Olean, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
