The Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center, a Kaleida Health facility, operated by Olean General Hospital (OGH), welcomes two new radiation oncologists. Varun Chowdhry, MD, MBA, and Joshua Regal, MD, PhD, both Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center physicians, are filling the shoes of Dr. Gregory Hare who retired earlier this fall.
“We thank Dr. Hare for his years of service to the community and the impact he made on every patient’s cancer care journey. Onboarding both Dr. Chowdhry and Dr. Regal as our region’s new radiation oncologists is a great accomplishment for our cancer care services,” affirmed Cheryl Klass, MBA, BSN, RN, interim president, BRMC, OGH. “Continuing to maintain these cancer care services locally provides Olean and neighboring communities with life-saving services right in their backyard and saving patient travel time.”
Dr. Chowdhry specializes in treating bladder, breast, colorectal, esophageal, head, neck, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, prostate, sarcoma, and skin cancers. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY where he also completed his internal medicine and radiation oncology residency. Dr. Chowdhry completed his fellowship in radiation oncology/proton radiation therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. He is American Board of Radiology certified in radiation oncology.
“I am originally from upstate New York, so coming to Olean feels like a homecoming of sorts. I look forward to serving this community and hope to provide the best care possible,” said Dr. Varun Chowdhry. “I hope to help my patients feel better through education, compassionate care, and through my expertise in providing specialized techniques in radiation oncology.”
Dr. Joshua Regal has also joined the team at the Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center. He specializes in treating prostate, breast, head and neck, lung, colorectal, and skin cancers as well as brain tumors. Dr. Regal earned his medical degree at University of Michigan, MI. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, and his residency in radiation oncology at Duke University, NC, where he also completed his fellowship.
Dr. Chowdhry and Dr. Regal are accepting new patients at the Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center located at 1415 Buffalo Street, Olean, NY. Appointments can be made by calling (716) 373-7134.
