District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer released a review of 6th class county spending on a Facebook post.
Following the news that the McKean County Commissioners had given $40,000 in bonuses to one of their departments while announcing a tax hike to county residents, a survey was done to determine how McKean County Commissioners’ spending compares to other counties.
The survey shows that McKean County outspends every other 6th class county who responded in the same department that McKean County commissioners gave out these bonuses.
DA Vettenburg-Shaffer stated that “overspending in the wake of a tax hike is shocking.”

Don’t forget the grants for Callahan park in Bradford adding up to 1.7 million dollars over the past few years. Doesn’t seem to me like what was done there should be anywhere near that price range. Then on top of that they are doing code violations all through the city to the taxpayers while they have public streets and sidewalks falling apart.Walkway on east main st. is in danger of collapsing into eagles parking lot. Your citizens are watching and taking notes!
