The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team along with the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will host a “Get In The Game” blood and stem cell registry drive Saturday, Feb. 2.
The event will take place during the women’s basketball game against Duquesne from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame room located in the Reilly Center. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. and anyone who chooses to join the donor registry receives free admission to the game. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 40 to join the registry. Joining is simple and non-invasive as all it takes a cheek swab. Several youths in the greater St. Bonaventure area have been diagnosed with blood cancers and disorders including Portville ninth-grader Colt Matz. Colt is the recipient of two bone marrow transplants, the first via his brave younger brother Jack, and the second an anonymous donor found through the National Marrow Donor Program. Former Bonnies softball student-athlete Katie Sinclair, ’16, had the opportunity to be a donor as a perfect match in October 2015. For Katie’s full story, click here. Together, we can create a world where blood cancers and disorders are a thing of the past. Get In The Game with the Bonnies on February 2. |
