An Olean woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly committing welfare fraud.
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Jessica Shutt was arrested for 3rd degree grand larceny and welfare fraud, as well as four counts of offering a false instrument for filing, all of which are felonies. According to the complaint, Shutt received more than 30,000 dollars in HEAP benefits, childcare, and other services.
The investigation began in August of 2024. Shutt was taken into custody without incident, processed, and released with an appearance ticket.
