Paul Vossen set a new school record for stolen bases in a game as the St. Bonaventure baseball team blew past UT Martin to complete a three-game round robin sweep at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro this weekend with a 13-6 victory over the Skyhawks Sunday night.
Vossen swiped an astounding seven bases – not only good for the St. Bonaventure single-game record, but also a total that stands just one off the NCAA Division I record of eight. He was perfect in his stolen base attempts, 7-for-7.
The Nevada native recorded the most stolen bases in a game by any Division I player since 2001 when Bobby Kingsbury of Fordham tied the national record set by King Lewis of Bethune-Cookman in 1994.
Bona’s previous record of five stolen bases in a game stood since 1992 when Glenn Hamel set that mark in a game against Davis & Elkins.
The Bonnies remain in the Volunteer State for four challenging games over Spring Break as they have two of the top programs in the country on deck. First up is a trip to Nashville as the Bonnies take on nationally-ranked Vanderbilt Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Central/5:30 p.m. Eastern on SEC Network+ before a weekend series at defending national champion Tennessee starting Friday night.
