St. Bonaventure senior guard Melvin Council Jr. wraps his outstanding season with another accolade for his resume by being named to the NABC All-District Teams.
Council earned a spot on the North Atlantic District First Team along with nine other players from around the region: Adam Clark (Merrimack), Zyby Ejiofor (St. John’s), Donald Hand Jr. (Boston College), Rashad King (Northeastern), RJ Luis Jr. (St. John’s), Josh Pascarelli (Marist), Kadary Richmond (St. John’s), Jalen Rucker (Army) and J.J. Starling (Syracuse).
The Rochester native led the Bonnies nearly across the board in his first season with the program.
Council started all 34 games, playing over 93 percent of the team’s minutes during the year which was top-10 among all Division I players nationwide. Council paced the Bonnies in scoring at 14.6 ppg while adding 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
During the Atlantic 10 season, he scored in double figures in every game and did so in all but five contests during the whole year. He led all A-10 players in steals and ranks 19th nationally with 72 thefts on the season.
He previously was honored as a member of the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team following the conclusion of the regular season.
St. Bonaventure wrapped up the campaign with an overall record of 22-12.
