For the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night, the second-to-last game of the season was not the way they wanted to go out.
Head coach Lindy Ruff said they just gave too many chances to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 4-0 loss at KeyBank Center. “You know, we left a lot of good chances out there,” said Ruff. “Tight game. It was a hard-fought game. We were doing a lot of good stuff, you know, against those two top lines. And we were generating enough to win it. We had a power play at the end that gave us two or three really good opportunities. Even hit the post, I don’t know, late there through the maze. But we just left too many. The second period, we left too many chances there.”
The Sabres wrap up the season tomorrow night at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. The puck drops at 7 o’clock.
