The New Jersy Man convicted of stabbing author Salman Rushdie on-stage at the Chautauqua Institution was sentenced today.
27-year-old Hadi Matar made a statement before sentencing, talking about freedom of speech in which he called Rushdie a hypocrite.
Matar was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison for the attempted murder and assault charges, however he still needs to face terrorism charges in a separate federal trial.
