A State of Emergency is in effect for Cuba Lake because of recent rain and flooding. No water vessels are permitted to launch or travel on the lake. Swimming and fishing are also prohibited.
According to Town Supervisor Lee James and Chief of Police Dustin Burch, this decision was guided by several factors, including “the potential for physical injury and the possibility of chemicals or other substances in the water due to flooding.”
The ban took effect at 4 p.m. Saturday and will remain in place until travel and recreation are safe.
