As the last connection on the roster to the Pirates’ run of three straight postseasons, Andrew McCutchen’s place in franchise lore is secure.
Passing Roberto Clemente takes it to another level.
McCutchen jumped all over a split finger fastball from Marlins pitcher Cal Quantrill on a 3-run line drive blast to left field. The round tripper was McCutchen’s 241st in a Pirates uniform, surpassing the legendary Clemente’s 240.
The 5th inning home run put the Bucs ahead 4-0 in a Wednesday matinee game at PNC Park.
Willie Stargell tops the Pirates all-time HR list with 475, followed by Ralph Kiner with 301.
