Six Olean High School students recently received awards from scholarship funds managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Blake Kinnaird, Spencer Greenstein, Evan Snyder and Vailon Scott received the Mary Elizabeth Smith Scholarship.
Kinnaird and Greenstein received $1,000. Snyder and Scott received $700.
This scholarship was established through the estate of Mary-Elizabeth Smith as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund to support graduating Olean High School seniors annually.
Kinnaird plans to study physics at Ithaca College. Greenstein will study culinary arts at SUNY Niagara. Snyder plans to study cybersecurity at St. Bonaventure University. Scott will begin studying psychology at SUNY Niagara.
Annalisse Easton and Sullivan Hoffman received the Signe, Svenborg, Agnes and Selma Johnson Scholarship, a $1,150 award.
Established through the trust of Signe H. Johnson, this scholarship is given to Olean High School seniors with preference given to students who have strong educational/career goals or who plan to pursue a degree in teaching. The scholarship is named for Johnson and her sisters, Svenborg, Agnes and Selma, all of whom were Olean High School Teachers.
Easton plans to study early childhood education at St. Bonaventure University. Hoffman will attend Duquesne University to study finance on a pre-law track.
