Two of the dozen buffalo due to be released on the Seneca Allegany Reservation have died and the remaining 10 are undergoing treatment.
The announcement was made in a release from the Nation’s Communications department yesterday. Twelve head of buffalo were brought to the reservation by the InterTribal Buffalo Council, which had planned to release them onto a 300 acre lot on the Ohi:yo’ Sunfish Flats off of Route 17/I-86.
No cause of death was given. The remaining 10 buffalo are being treated and cared for at Gakwi:yo:h Farms.
