The Cattaraugus County Sheriff office is reporting a case of forgery as it relates to welfare benefits. The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office. After an investigation, 30 year old Leighann Russell of Salamanca New York was arrested after failing to turn herself in on multiple occasions. She is charged with three counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the 1st degree, and three counts of forgery in the 2nd degree. The arrest was the result of Russell forging her landlords name on DSS paperwork and submitting that paperwork to DSS. She was arraigned in the City of Olean Court and released to appear at a later date.
