The fate of the “Nutty Ol’ St. Nick” Squirrel statue in Olean is in question.
The Santa Claus-themed squirrel, who stood in front of the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce offices at North Union and Sullivan Streets, was damaged when a vehicle collided with it on Friday. The statue is currently inside the office.
Chamber Chief Operating Officer Meme Yanetsko told WESB News Tuesday afternoon that a decision whether to repair or retire the statue will have to wait upon consultation with the Chamber’s insurance company.
However, Yanetsko did want to reassure you that whether or not “Nutty Ol’ St. Nick” is restored, there will be a Santa-themed squirrel once all is said and done.
