A Rochester man has admitted to his role in a drug conspiracy that led to a murder on the Seneca’s Cattaraugus Reservation back in 1998.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 39-year-old Angelo Cruz pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to conspiracy to distribute 280 grams or more of crack cocaine.
Prosecutors say Cruz and Francisco Santos were members of a Rochester drug ring. Santos was accused by members of stealing money and drugs so Cruz and others took him to the reservation and stabbed him to death.
Cruz could spend life in prison after he’s sentenced on January 4. The minimum prison sentence is 20 years.
