The Texas Rangers dumped the Toronto blue Jays 5-3 in game one of their ALDS. Robinson Chirinos hit a two-run homer to lead the Rangers. Both starting third basemen left with injuries as Texas’s Adrian Beltre left in the third with lower back injury and Toronto’s Josh Donaldson left in the fifth after he was kneed in the head while sliding in an attempt to break up a double play.
The Houston Astros topped the Kansas City Royals in their ALDS opener winning 5-2. Road teams improved to 4-0 in the postseason as the Houston Astros jumped out to an early lead against the Kansas City Royals and didn’t look back. George Springer and Colby Rasmus both homered for the long-ball happy Astros.
