Gabby Kranock has passed away.
Kranock was paralyzed from the shoulders down in the same alcohol-involved crash that killed Kayden Bellisle of Olean and injured Hailey Bello in September of last year.
Gabby’s injuries inspired many shows of support and goodwill from the community as she fought to recover.
According to police reports, on September 3rd, 2022, a pickup truck driven by Skylar Hess of Little Genessee struck a legally parked Jeep which was propelled into Bellisle. The truck continued, hitting a parked sedan, which in turn hit and injured Kranock and Bello.
Last month Hess was sentenced by Cattaraugus County Court Judge Ronald D. Ploetz to a total of 12-22 years on 10 counts in the indictment stemming from the incident, but ordered the sentences to be served concurrently, not consecutively, meaning that Hess could serve as little as twenty-seven months and no more than seven years in prison.
Kranock’s family announced her passing this morning, saying “our baby has received her wings.” Gabby Kranock was 19.
