Uka Pekka Lukanen made 35 saves, Jack Quinn scored twice, and the Buffalo Sabres spoiled the Ottawa Senators’ homecoming with a 4-0 shutout on Thursday night.
Even though the Sabres find themselves dead last in the Eastern Conference, coach Lindy Ruff says they just have to keep on grinding. “We know we’ve dug ourselves a hole, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel…and I said this: that you’ve got to come out of something that we went through,” said Ruff. You’ve got to come out a better team. You’ve got to be better players. You’ve got to be better coaches, and I think that’s what we’re going to do. Tonight was an example that we were ready to play, and we knew we needed the two points.
The Sabres next host Seattle on Saturday night.
