Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital, Kaleida Health facilities, are proud to announce the winners of the March Star Awards. This month’s BRMC and OGH recipients were Oliver Nagel and Katelyn Spears, BSN, RN, respectively.
Oliver Nagel, plant services, BRMC, has been with BRMC since 2019 and was honored as the March BRMC Star Award recipient.
“Oliver goes above and beyond to keep our HVAC systems and refrigeration units running smoothly! This is no easy task, as the machines have many tight spaces and small parts to handle. During a week of subzero temperatures, Oliver was ready to keep our outdoor HVAC units running, no matter how harsh the conditions, to ensure our patients and staff stayed warm,” read his nomination. “It’s unsung heroes like Oliver who keep things running smoothly. Thank you— you rock!”
Katelyn Spears, BSN, RN, a nurse on third floor at OGH since 2022, was honored with the March OGH Star Award.
“Katelyn is always upbeat and encouraging, bringing a positive energy to every patient interaction. She maintains a high level of professionalism in all situations and goes above and beyond to exceed expectations,” read her nomination. “Her dedication and attention to detail make a lasting impression, and I always know I can rely on her to deliver exceptional patient care.”
The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability, and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations.
The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Amanda Johnston, radiology coordinator; and Carole McCormick, environmental service aide. OGH nominees were: Allison Friends, lead nurse assistant; Cassey Lockwood, RN; Tarah Welsh, office coordinator; and Evan Wilber, RN.
Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition, and the star award parking spot.
