In Pittsburgh on Sunday, Ricard Rakel had the lone goal for the Penguins as they lose to the Boston Bruins 4-1.
After the game, an obviously unhappy head coach Mike Sullivan was asked about the team’s slow start in the game. “Slow start? ” said an exasperated Sullivan. “It was a slow game, period. We had one guy that… I thought our goaltender was terrific. The rest of it, it’s hard to find a positive.”
The Penguins will host Washington tomorrow night, and they’ll be closing out their third straight year without a postseason appearance. That’s their longest drought since 2002 to 2006.
