Two New York State Police troopers were stabbed Saturday as they made an arrest in Bolivar.
Both troopers were stabbed in the head, one just above their eye, as they arrested a woman who was in a reportedly stolen vehicle.
According to State Troopers, a stolen vehicle had been reported in the village of Bolivar Saturday afternoon – which was found in the parking lot of a Crosby’s convenience store.
According to a press release, “during the arrest of the female suspect, she violently resisted…in response to the assault, one of the troopers discharged their division-issued firearm, but did not strike the suspect.”
Neither trooper has been identified, though the trooper who was struck near the eye is reportedly in serious condition and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment.
The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries. Her identity has not yet been released, but state police have assured the public that there was no continuing threat related to the incident.
This is a developing story.
