UPDATE: The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 19-year-old Waterford man who drowned Thursday off Ripley Beach as Alex Musser.
The Water Emergency Team was able to locate and recover the body today.
There was no foul play and there will be no charges filed.
Musser and his friends were cliff jumping off Ripley Beach during hazardous conditions when he went under the water and didn’t resurface.

A 19-year-old man from Waterford, PA, drowned in Lake Erie in Chautauqua County Thursday during the time there was a Beach Hazard Statement in effect.
Sheriff’s deputies say two 19-year-olds were cliff jumping at Ripley Beach when one of them landed on some rocks and suffered non-life threatening injuries. They haven’t been able to recover the other man’s body yet because of the water conditions.
The investigation is continuing.
