The Olean Zoning Board of Appeals has unanimously approved a plan for a community theater in the Temple B’nai Israel.
Five of the six board members voted to approve a variance paving the way for Olean Community Theatre to buy the Temple building and operate it as a theater. Board member Darryl Bloom, a member of the Temple’s congregation, recused himself from the discussion and vote.
Olean Community Theatre has promised to maintain the building’s outward appearance, except for a ramp to bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
