Born August 2, 1938 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Alfred and Antoinette (Piscitelli) Caputo. He was a 1956 graduate of Bradford High School.
On September 19, 1956 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in Japan and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1960.
On August 7, 1965 in St. Bernard Church, he married Margaret (Manning) Caputo who survives.
Tom formerly worked at AirCo Speer, Delta Airlines for 25 years and retired in 1994. He later joined Worldwide Freight and retired again in 2007.
He enjoyed bowling, reading crime thriller novels, crossword puzzles, watching movies, and was an avid Steelers fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret of 55 years, are two daughters, Dina (Craig) Shaffer of Pickerington OH, and Angela (Michael) Waldhelm, of Tampa FL, two sons, James Caputo of Winter Park FL, and Mark Caputo of Reynoldsburg OH, four grandchildren, Britney and Rachel Waldhelm and Robbie and Marisa Shaffer, one aunt, Louise Stoltz of Bradford, and two nieces, Kelly Gleason and Karen Strotman, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Robert and Steven, and one sister, Sandra O’Connell.
Friends will be received on Monday March 15, 2021, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. at 33 South Ave., from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at which time a prayer service will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. Bernard Church, with Fr. Jim Gutting, Senior Associate as Celebrant. Committal services and Full Military Honors will be accorded by members of the United States Air Force and the Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 108 at St. Bernard Cemetery. Burial will follow.
Memorials if desired may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
