The names of those involved in Wednesday’s plane crash in Great Valley have been released
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office, 80 year old William H. Mandalare of Brockport was killed when the small plane he was a passenger in crashed at a landing strip on Route 219. The pilot, 72 year old Raymond E. Groetsch of Brockport, was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC in Buffalo for burns on his face and hands. He is currently in critical condition.
A preliminary investigation suggested that a problem occurred with the plane during takeoff. The investigation is continuing with assistance from the FAA and the NTSB.
