The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold monthly smART workshops, a free, hands-on arts series for children in PreK to 4th grade, starting Jan. 18.

As part of Pitt-Bradford Arts’ Kaleidoscope Series, smART workshops allow children to explore the magic of music, theater, literature, and visual arts together with their families.

Workshops are held Saturday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. in Blaisdell Hall on the Pitt-Bradford campus. Each session is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage self-expression, and bring families closer through the joy of artistic discovery.

The 2025 smART workshop lineup follows:

• Jan. 18 Theatre Workshop
  Participants will dive into acting, creative movement and improv exercises, helping them build confidence, teamwork, and storytelling skills. Whether a child loves the stage or is just curious to try, this workshop is perfect for all experience levels.
• Feb. 8 Story & Craft Adventures
  Books come to life in this interactive workshop where children explore an exciting story about a creative artist and author. Children will then channel their inspiration into creating a unique piece of artwork and an accompanying poem. This session is ideal for young minds that love to combine words and visuals to tell their own stories.
• March 8 Clay Creatures & Stories
  This hands-on session will teach children how to mold air-dry clay into amazing creations, from whimsical monsters to beloved animals. Then they will collaborate to develop quick, fun stories about their sculptures, blending visual art with creative writing.
• April 12 Explore the World through Instruments
  This workshop takes kids on a global journey to explore unique instruments from around the world. From the rhythmic beats of drums to the melodic sounds of stringed instruments, children will learn about their history, hear their sounds, and even get a chance to play them.
