A man is facing numerous charges after a 14 hour standoff on November 9 that closed Route 6 between Smethport and Port Allegany. Court records say that the grandmother of 40 year-old Damian Andreano of Port Allegany called 911 to report that he was acting crazy, throwing and breaking things and told her that he wanted to burn the house down and die in a police shootout. Police responded and set up a perimeter while everyone that was at the residence left, but Andreano, who failed to respond to any communication, barricaded himself in the attic where it took four taser probes to bring him under control. Andreano was taken to BRMC for a mental evaluation and later jailed on $100,000 bail.
