Law enforcement officials conducted an active shooter drill Wednesday morning at St. Bonaventure University. Police practiced all of the steps they would take if a gunman was really opening fire on campus. Tactical teams secured the John J. Murphy Professional Building, before allowing emergency medical personnel to enter and carry out students, who laid on the floor playing the role of wounded victims. The drill tested all elements of St. Bonaventure’s active shooter emergency protocol and the campus community held a lockout staying put inside their locked offices, classrooms and dorm rooms until being notified the drill was over by the university’s electronic notification system.
