Two men — one of whom is hospitalized in serious condition — are facing assault charges following a fight at the Emporium Sheetz on Monday.
Police say 28-year-old Cody Saltsman of Port Allegany met 24-year–old Dakota Brown of Troutville, and Brown’s girlfriend, at the store to return the girlfriend’s purse that had been left at a mutual friend’s house.
They say video shows Saltsman and Brown exchanging words before Saltsman head-butted Brown. The girlfriend tried to end the fight but as the couple was trying to leave Saltsman forcibly kissed her. The men started fighting again, Saltsman hit Brown in the head with a motorcycle helmet, and Brown stabbed Saltsman in the chest multiple times.
Both men are charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct.
So, why isn’t this guy charged with attempted homocide? I would think that stabbing someone in the chest region, and multiple times at that, constitutes something a trifle more than “assault charges” and disorderly conduct.
